UK Ingenium price guide — indicative, not live quotes

What used and reconditioned Ingenium engines were being asked in research around late August 2026, and why a cheap-looking headline is not always the landed cost.

Supply, collection common

Used complete 2.0 diesel (four-cylinder)

Often about £2,200–£3,500

Complete used Ingenium 2.0 diesels across Land Rover and Jaguar often sit in this spread. Low-mileage complete units with turbo and injectors sit higher. Bare long-blocks look cheaper until you add a turbo, loom and postage.

Si4 / P-series

Used 2.0 petrol Ingenium

Often about £2,000–£4,000

Petrol fours are a separate pile. Do not buy a diesel listing for a petrol car because both say Ingenium 2.0. Confirm the petrol stamp (PT204 and related) and the output badge.

Reconditioned 2.0 diesel supply-and-fit

Often from about £3,995

Recon 2.0 diesel supply-and-fit packages are commonly advertised from about £3,995 including UK mainland recovery. Twin-turbo 204DTA, MHEV and low-mileage rebuilds run higher. Get a written breakdown: engine, labour, recovery, and what is not included.

Defender, Range Rover, Sport

3.0 Ingenium six — used and recon

Typically a higher band

Straight-six Ingenium engines are a different market from the 2.0 four. Expect used complete units and recon supply-and-fit to sit well above typical 2.0 diesel asking prices. Always confirm the exact six-cylinder code; a 2.0 will not substitute.

Traps that change the real number

“Complete engine 3k” can mean miles

Titles such as “Ingenium complete engine 3k” are regularly mileage, not pounds. The same advert can ask £5,990 or more. Read the price box, not the headline.

Postage on a cheap-looking bare engine

Pallet carriage on a 2.0 can be £150–£400+ depending on crate and distance. Add turbo, injectors and a day’s labour before you compare it with a complete local engine.

Complete vs bare

Complete should mean turbo, injectors or coils, sensors, inlet, wiring and usually the flywheel or flexplate. Bare means a long-block. Ask for a photo of every side and a written parts list.

Core deposits and ‘exchange’

Some recon deals need your old engine back. That is normal. A large cash deposit to a personal account before you have seen the unit is not.

How to use these numbers

A complete 2.0 diesel advertised at £2,650 collection, with a donor reg and compression figures, sits inside the used four-cylinder band we saw. If “complete engine 3k” is actually £5,990 because 3k is mileage, that is a different product. Postage on a bare long-block can add hundreds before you have a turbo.

Recon supply-and-fit from about £3,995 is a common alternative on 2.0 diesels when you cannot inspect a used unit. 3.0 sixes and some petrol fours sit higher. Compare paths in used vs reconditioned. Shopping questions live in the buyer’s guide.

Workshop pick

Schaeffler INA

559 1793 20
The aftermarket line UK trade catalogues most often put against the 2.0 diesel. Related numbers 559 1793 21 and 553 0814 10 are not automatic substitutes. Open the box: you need both chains, all guides and both tensioners — some INA lines are a short kit.
Complete aftermarket kit

Febi Bilstein

194091
The boxed kit we would order for a used 2.0 diesel going back in, if genuine is not on the shelf. It crosses to LR132676 and LR139320. Check both chains (90 and 82 links), all guides and both tensioners before you pay.
Single-turbo 150/180 hp

Genuine JLR (latest revision)

LR140581
The turbo we would order for a single-turbo 2.0 diesel. Current Land Rover number; supersedes LR094424, LR083483 and LR073722. Confirm the stamp on the old housing and the VIN. Not a 204DTA twin-turbo.

Kits we would actually order for a 2.0 diesel: Schaeffler INA 559 1793 20 or Febi 194091 for the chain, and LR140581 for a single turbo. Confirm the box against your engine number. Affiliate disclosure — tracking IDs are still placeholders.
