Buy an Ingenium without guessing.

Ingenium is Jaguar Land Rover’s modular engine family — 2.0 diesel, 2.0 petrol and 3.0 six — used across Land Rover and Jaguar from 2015. Use this site to inspect a used car before you buy, or to shop a replacement engine if yours has already failed.

What Ingenium actually is

It is not one engine code. Adverts that only say “Ingenium 2.0” are incomplete. Diesel fours, petrol fours and the later straight-sixes share a design language. They do not share bays, looms or ECUs. Compact SUVs typically sit the engine transverse. Saloons, large Land Rovers and most Jaguars sit it longitudinal. A matching family name is not a drop-in.

2.0 diesel (I4)
204DTD, 204DTA, 204DTH, 204DTF, 204DTY1,999 cc (later MHEV often 1,997 cc) common-rail diesel. Single-turbo 150–180 hp or twin-turbo ~240 hp. Timing chain at the rear. The volume used-engine market in the UK.
2.0 petrol (I4)
PT204 and related 2.0 petrol stampsTurbo petrol four, sold as Si4 and later P200 / P250 / P300. Same modular family, different fuel system. Do not mix a petrol long-block into a diesel bay, or the reverse.
3.0 six (I6)
Ingenium straight-six diesel and petrolUsed in Defender, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and later Discovery. Physically and electrically a different job from any 2.0 four. Higher used and recon money.

Read the engine family overview, or the 2.0 diesel code table if you already have a 204DT* stamp.

Workshop pick

Schaeffler INA

559 1793 20
The aftermarket line UK trade catalogues most often put against the 2.0 diesel. Related numbers 559 1793 21 and 553 0814 10 are not automatic substitutes. Open the box: you need both chains, all guides and both tensioners — some INA lines are a short kit.
Complete aftermarket kit

Febi Bilstein

194091
The boxed kit we would order for a used 2.0 diesel going back in, if genuine is not on the shelf. It crosses to LR132676 and LR139320. Check both chains (90 and 82 links), all guides and both tensioners before you pay.
Single-turbo 150/180 hp

Genuine JLR (latest revision)

LR140581
The turbo we would order for a single-turbo 2.0 diesel. Current Land Rover number; supersedes LR094424, LR083483 and LR073722. Confirm the stamp on the old housing and the VIN. Not a 204DTA twin-turbo.

Kits we would actually order for a 2.0 diesel: Schaeffler INA 559 1793 20 or Febi 194091 for the chain, and LR140581 for a single turbo. Confirm the box against your engine number. Affiliate disclosure — tracking IDs are still placeholders.
